Krobo Beads are made from 100% recycled glass. These beads are created by pulverizing old bottles into dust, adding color to the dust, and then pouring it into molds made from termite mounds. The molds are fired in a termite mound oven, and finally, the beads are painted by hand. We personally travel to the Krobo Region of Ghana to hand-select every bead we use. Afterward, we bring the beads from Ghana to Baltimore, where we design and handcraft each piece! Krobo Glass Beads from Ghana have held symbolic value for centuries, making them highly significant in all grand ceremonial occasions in Ghanaian life. These occasions can range from formal state ceremonies to communal events such as birth, coming of age, and marriage. The color, shape, size, and materials used in the beads all carry rich meaning. These are the highest quality tribal bracelets for both African men and women's fashion.

  • Made with handmade powder beads from the Krobo Region of Ghana, West Africa this is a tradition over 500 years old. Hand painted with traditional motifs and layers of color. Each bead is made by recycling old glass bottles.
