Higher rates of obesity have been found among adults with learning disabilities (AWLD) compared to the general population (Public Health England, 2020). The purpose of this literature review is to understand how positive lifestyle choices on obesity management can be facilitated in adults with learning disabilities. This is due to the impact of the additional needs experienced by this client group on their propensity for engagement with positive lifestyle choices.The literature review found that obesity management can be achieved for AWLD using positive lifestyle choices. However, there is need to ensure that families, carers, and communities are involved to maximise the potential for personalising the lifestyle choice facilitated for the client.
