ON THE AFRICAN HUNT Hardcover – December 3, 2025

Since 1986, I have made many safaris to Gazankulu, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. I have done problem animal control for the Gazankulu Game Department and it proved to be the ultimate big-game hunting experience of my career. I was introduced to problem animals such as hippos and crocodiles, wounded Cape Buffalo, crop-raiding elephants, and lions and leopards killing livestock. I was also tasked with culling impala and warthog to feed the game ranger force. I have a preponderance of African big-game trophies to my credit, including Black Rhino, elephant, Cape Buffalo, hippo, and crocodile. 29% of the animals I’ve taken in Africa have been dangerous game. On two separate occasions, I have almost had my ticket punched by black rhinos. While in Gazankulu, I became friends with the Chief Minister, Hudson William Edison Ntsanwisi who offered me the job of being the first Director of Tourism for his country. Read more
