New coach, new quarterback is a common scenario at all levels of football. Starting fresh in a sport that requires continuity is not easy. Doug Pederson and Trevor Lawrence are a great case study on how to navigate this challenge and still create a top 10 offense.Doug brought his playbook over from Philadelphia, after giving it a nice overhaul in his sabbatical. Many staple concepts were recognizable from Philly, but Pederson and his coaching staff evolved the system and made sure to adjust to their personnel. Pederson’s success in Philadelphia was in large part due to his use of RPO’s. The same can be said for Jacksonville. Pederson will pair various pass concepts with primarily inside zone, as well as outside zone as the run concepts.The Jaguars boast one of the most well-designed drop back pass games in the NFL.
